Why we do it

Antarctica is the natural heritage of all humankind. It’s up to us to protect it.

Our Story

We have been successfully advocating for stronger Antarctic protections since 1978.

Antarctica is the world’s last great wilderness. We have a unique opportunity to prevent some of the widespread environmental problems that have occurred elsewhere and chart a new course for our relationship with nature – one where we safeguard ourselves by safeguarding the natural systems that make life on earth possible.

🌊 Let`s celebrate the invaluable Antarctic ecosystems for their profound impact on our oceans` vitality. They serve as essential contributors to marine health, enriching waters with vital nutrients and playing a pivotal role in climate regulation by sequestering carbon. 🌍 It is crucial to recognize and preserve these remarkable habitats. Join us at the grand unveiling of our youth artwork at #ATCM46 on May 22, from 12:30 to 13:45. See you there! 🎨 Credits: Veda T. Kolleri ...

Did you know today is #DeepDay? 🌊 While we often think of Antarctica as an unexplored frontier, there`s an even more mysterious realm lurking beneath its icy surface — the ocean depths surrounding the continent. Despite its reputation as an icy wilderness, the Antarctic deep sea is teeming with life.

Using new technologies like the Icefin submarine, researchers have begun to explore the world beneath the Thwaites Ice Shelf. Sea anemones, crustaceans, and fish flourish in the darkness, challenging our preconceptions about where life can thrive.

Yet, with the vast majority of Antarctica`s deep ocean still unexplored, there`s much more to discover. Check out the link in our bio to learn more!
